How I Got My Laptop Lifestyle Back.... with Affiliate Marketing!!
This is me, my boy and our dog Shanti, living the dream, 20 years ago. My hubby is behind the camera. I think we were at Monkey Mia there... but honestly we could have been anywhere. It didn't matter. It was the lifestyle we embraced; being able to move at our own pace... the hardest decision was what we would have for lunch. We wandered Australia in our bus for about 4 years. Our daughter was born on the road. It was a very beautiful and simple life that I ached to get back to for a really long time.
My husband and I were original laptop lifestylers, pre iPhones.
I'm talking 20 years ago.
We lived the freedom dream, travelling with our young family.
We got to experience the golden days of early internet sales without needing much more than a dream and a great website. The income from our online business supported our adventures for 5 years.
As competition grew though, we decided to move to the country, raise our kids and continue living the simple life. Our laptop lifestyle slipped away. And we fell into the “time-for-money” cycle.
As our kids grew into young adults, I started to ache for the freedom we had back then. I found myself joking often, about how jealous I was of myself 20 years ago..... and realised that it was time to get my laptop lifestyle back!!!
I jumped online to see how I could find my way back into the 'digital business world'... more than a decade later.
Everything had changed.
And I was overwhelmed!!
There was so much opportunity and it all seemed way beyond me.
I saw so many people making their fortune online.
And I had no idea how I could make it happen.
I didn't want to be a course creator.
I didn't want to deal with product production and customer fullfillment.
And I really didn't want to be a social media influencer.
For a long while it seemed impossible. But the ache for my freedom kept me seeking... I needed to find a way.
I reckon I bought and tried on about 5 different courses before I came across some training that really turned the lights on for me.
Firstly I discovered Affiliate Marketing and I immediately felt relief; no product to store, to send out, to refund.... no viral social media that I needed to create and sustain.... simply a passion for sharing other people's stuff that I really loved. I realised I could easily get behind that.
And then... I really got it....
... the biggest reason our original internet business hit its expiry date, wasn't really because we just wanted to live the quiet life with our family.
It was because we had absolutely no system, strategy, training or mentoring to be able to grow and evolve it.
A dream without a plan, can only get you so far.
I see so clearly now, that we were riding the edge of great possibility, back in the day.... and if we could have had the training then, that I have been able to get now, our laptop lifestyle could have taken us on grand adventures with our teenage kids.
Instead we got to humbly experience the relentlessness of the 'time for money, just to pay the bills loop'.
The training that I discovered (the same one I am sharing with you) was EVERYTHING I needed to be able to create my own online business in today's world.
I was mindblown that I didn't need my own product to sell, a decade of tech skills under my belt, or even the personality to shine on YouTube.

My laptop lifestyle, 20 years later, looks different.
I'm 51. I really like being at home; in my garden, cooking delicious meals... and spending time with my family, my friends and my community. I love that I can take my laptop outside and sit under a tree and create assets and content for my business. I love that I can go on adventures with my kids (I am so grateful they still want to) and that my office can be anywhere.
I found my simple life again.
And I love it!!!!
My hubby has his eye on a 4wd camper-truck.

What is Affiliate Marketing?
I have always been the girl who lets everyone I know, know, about all of the very cool things that I discover.
I often thought that if I could get just one dollar for each of the sales I'd made for other people by simply being a raving fan of their stuff, I would be a millionaire.
Imagine my joy when I discovered that selling other people's stuff online to make money, is actually a thing, and that it is in fact a lucrative business model when you step into the world of High Ticket Affiliate Marketing.
Affiliate Marketing is simply about promoting someone else's product or service to an interested audience, and getting paid thank you money when a sale is made. It is about generating leads for other businesses who then make the sale. So it is not about selling anything.
